Speech Therapy
Is an area of health care that works on the diagnosis, intervention and investigation of language pathologies (oral and written), speech, voice and swallowing in the child, adolescent, adult and elderly. Stimulation is through diverse techniques, therapeutic play and specialized systems in language comprehension and expression, oral functions such as reflexes, suction, respiration, mastication and swallowing abilities that occur when there are difficulties at the muscular, sensory and/or anatomic level. The therapist is responsible for rehabilitating the oral structures for better physiologic function for feeding and treatment of communication disturbances that occur in different syndromes and neurological conditions among others.
