Soft Tissue Mobilization
Consists of specialized massage techniques focused on releasing and eliminating trigger points in the muscle. A trigger point is a contraction of muscle fibers causing knots, pain and frequently limitations in movement. There are active trigger points where one feels pain without being touched and other passive trigger points that only produce pain when the point is palpated. Active trigger points are one cause of chronic pain. Apart from releasing muscular tension, soft tissue mobilization improves circulation, joint range of motion and relieves stress.
